It turns out that much of the issue is a lack of thinking and presence on our part, a lack of being in the moment, or low levels of self esteem. We are literally “medicating” through buying things and getting that rush of endorphins when you treat yourself to something nice.
It can be all to easy to equate “more” with “better” and to fall into the trap of destination anxiety or the Someday Isle.
