Daily life, work, stresses and strains can all get the better of us.
Been there, done that. In fact, still doing that….
This neat idea was introduced to my by a colleague and it helps you keep perspective on things- especially the negative things that can confront us in daily life.
To “helicopter” is to simply rise above the situation within which you find yourself.
Looking at things from a distance (a high altitude) helps you to keep them in perspective and to remain objective rather than being swept along.
Using a silly name like “to helicopter” makes this technique more memorable than simply saying “remember to keep perspective on things”
It also gives you an action – rather than “get perspective” you can “helicopter” any given situation.
So next time you’re not sure what to do in a situation, don’t forget to helicopter 🙂
