Happiness. That fleeting, seemingly unachievable state of mind we all pursue.
It turns out that achieving happiness, for “smart” people can be nigh on impossible to obtain. The reason for this is how we score and measure happiness. There is a tendency for the scoring to be on the tangible and the less ambiguous elements of life. This explains why we can make more money, but not be more happy per se.
Happiness exists in the non ambiguous areas of life, but as “smart” people we want yardsticks and scorecards so we can keep track and this is where it begins to go awry.
