Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away
New year is a great time to take stock and to think about goal setting for the coming 12 months.
What could you achieve? What did you achieve? What are your hopes and dreams?
For me, setting goals has always been difficult as I many of the things I aim for can’t be quantified into being achieved by a certain date or to a certain standard.
I find often I want to remove certain things or spend less time and energy on them, or increase certain things and spend more time on them
So my alternative to new years resolutions or goals is the “more or less” list – and it’s as simple as it sounds.
For the next 12 months I want to achieve things like check Facebook less, spend more time with my wife and son, read more, relax more, worry less.
Those are all things I will aim for and will “achieve” but it’s hard to set goals for them, so my “more or less” approach fills the void.
As we’re in the strange part of the year between Christmas and the New Year, why not take a moment to consider your own “more or less” items.
