Editor mode

Procrastination is the thief of time

I was always vaguely aware of this force holding me back but it wasn’t until I met “the coach with the hat” that I could give it a name  – Editor mode.

Editor mode stops you from putting all of your ideas and creativity into the world- it makes you add a filter and because of that it is a blocker to progress – and happiness.

Editor mode has stopped countless ideas, books, businesses, proposals and who knows what else from materialising- the devastation continues across the world every day.

Why?

Because of a simple fear of failure.

That’s what it all boils down to – putting something out there and willing to be judged on it -we forget at the most crucial moments that failure is a part of success and the cost is enormous.

So we filter what we produce in the hope we minimise our risk to criticism and our risk to failure- we play it too safe.

We all know that we are our own harshest critics – but do we really know that we are our own harshest critics?

If you criticised others the way you criticise yourself how many friends do you think you would have? and conversely when was the last time you faced crushing criticism which made you question your motives?

Exactly.

So now you know about Editor mode, as I do, the question is what is your editor mode keeping from the world and what are you going to do about it?
