A desire path can be a path created as a consequence of erosion caused by human or animal foot-fall or traffic. The path usually represents the shortest or most easily navigated route between an origin and destination.
We’ve all seen it; grass worn away where the path you re “supposed” to use is ignored in favour of a shorter route.
Why is this significant?
It represents choice. It represents quite literally “following your own path” which is so important to finding happiness in life.
Where the man made path represents the things you “should” do and what “everyone else” is doing, the desire path represents individuality, exploration and creativity.
Taking risks, learning, trying, growing; these are all desire path activities; the desire path leads you to what you want in life, whereas the pavements will lead you to where everyone else wants you to go.
Take a moment and ask yourself: are you sticking to the pavement or are you following your desire path?
Just a thought..
